The year is 2007, my name is David John Barnett (Barney)and my co-pilot is Stuart Brett James (Stu) and behind every good man or men in this case is a good women. Her name Is Emma Barbara June Dunn! (Ed) She will managing Stu & I as we launch ourselves at speeds of up to 60mph, YES 60mph in a fiat panda half way around the world to Mongolia (For you less educated folk, Mongolia is North of China, East of Kazakhtan (I LIKE YOU), West of South Korea, South of Russia.
We are departing Hyde Park on the 21st of July 2007; please come along and see us off, we could do with the jump start (or bring some jump leads). We havent quite decided on which route we will take on our 10,000 mile 4 week trip, we could go
UK, BELGIUM, GERMANY, POLAND, BELARUS, RUSSIA, KAZAKHSTAN, MONOLIA.
OR
UK, FRANCE (Boy, those French: They have a different word for everything!), SWITZELAND, AUSTRALIA, HUNGARY, BULGARIA, TURKEY, IRAN….Erm maybe not.
Anyway, enough of these minor details. Onto the important stuff; we're doing this not because I want to learn to speak Mongolian and thought I'd just nip over there and chat with Muurand togloom,hulgand ukhel which by the way means What is a joke for a cat will be death for a mouse
But for charity. We going to raise tonnes of cash for Mercy Corps and The Christina Noble Foundation.Which is a cause we all believe in because every child needs a good start in life and we want to help.
I was just tinkering with the Fiat (FIAT : Failure in Italian Automotive Technology) Panda that is going to take us all the way to Mongolia. I was getting into my car, and this bloke says to me "Can you give me a lift?" I said "Sure, you look great, the world's your oyster, go for it.
I drove off and I was driving along, and my boss rang up and he said 'You've been promoted.' And I swerved.
And then he rang up a second time and said "You've been promoted again. And I swerved again.
He rang up a third time and said 'You're managing director.' And I went into a tree.
And a policeman came up and said 'What happened to you?'
And I Said 'I careered off the road.'"
